Baffle Step Compensation Module – Internal or External
This custom BSC (Baffle Step Compensation) module corrects thin, weak bass in smaller speaker cabinets — and it works on virtually any speaker. Just give us your cabinet size and woofer model at checkout, and we’ll send you a tuned circuit that balances your speaker's low end without messing up the mids or highs.
- Improves bass presence and fullness in small- to mid-sized enclosures
- Uses 14-gauge air-core inductor and premium resistor
- Internal version mounts with screws or hot glue inside your cabinet
- External version features walnut plinth, 6 gold-plated binding posts, and swappable resistor slot
- Hand-tuned by Shinjitsu Audio based on your cabinet specs
- Brings out your speaker’s full potential without EQ
Don’t guess your resistor value.
Just provide your cabinet internal dimensions and woofer model — we’ll tune the circuit for you.
Real-World Impact
Think of it like this: If you talk in the corner of a room, your voice sounds fuller. Step out into the middle of the room, and it sounds thinner. That’s what happens with smaller speaker cabinets — they lose baffle reinforcement. This module brings it back.
Customers say it fixes veiled mids, soft top end, and weak bass — unlocking your speaker’s real character without DSP or tone controls.
Choose Your Version
- Internal (installs inside cabinet)
- External (walnut plinth with binding posts)

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need this?
If your speaker sounds thin, bright, or lacks bass — especially in a smaller cabinet — this will help. Most commercial speakers skip BSC to boost spec sheet sensitivity.
Does it change the highs or mess up imaging?
No. It only affects the woofer range, roughly 100–800 Hz. Your mids and highs stay clear and untouched.
Can I use this with any speaker?
Yes — as long as it's a two-way or three-way system with a single front-firing woofer and crossover at or below ~2.5 kHz.
How do I install it?
Internal version: Connect between your crossover input and woofer positive terminal. Mount with screws or glue.
External version: Connect between amp and speaker using banana plugs or spades.
Can I tweak the effect?
Yes — especially with the external version. Just swap resistors to increase or decrease the strength of the effect. We provide a default, and you can buy tuning packs too.
