Hiro's High-Performance Horn System Without the High-End Price Available in 8 inch or 6.5 inch woofer

A full-range horn speaker built for real rooms, real music, and real budgets.

The Problem

Many listeners want the immediacy and scale of horn speakers — but not the harsh treble, the huge cabinets, or the five-figure prices that usually come with them.

Traditional dome tweeters simply cannot keep up with a woofer’s dynamic ability, leading to strain, glare, and a collapsing soundstage when the music becomes complex.

Why It Happens

Woofers move a lot of air. Dome tweeters don’t. When music gets intense, the woofer keeps going while the tweeter compresses. The result: imbalance, haze, and lost detail.

And many commercial horns rely on older flare shapes or cost-cut drivers that create shout, harshness, and uneven blending.

The Solution — Hiro

The Hiro brings large-scale horn performance into a manageable cabinet and a sensible price. It uses a true compression driver with a constant-directivity horn, paired perfectly with the Mark Audio CHR120 woofer.

A carefully tuned passive network blends them smoothly at approximately 2 kHz, giving Hiro the liveliness of a horn system without the harshness or glare found in older designs.

Why It Works

  • The woofer handles bass + mids naturally — no strain or congestion.
  • The compression driver takes over above ~2 kHz, where dynamics matter most.
  • The horn maintains clarity at all volumes — effortless, fast, and clean.
  • High sensitivity (93 dB) makes even low-watt amps sound full and alive.
  • Phase-coherent crossover keeps the transition seamless and natural.
  • Your result is a horn speaker with real scale, presence and clarity without complicated three-way designs, or boutique pricing. Hiro or Hiro 8 bring the energy of live music into real world rooms with the warmth and refinement that makes listening sessions effortless.
  • Your choice the traditional Hiro 6.5. Mark Audio CHR120 woofer or the new Mark Audio MA200M woofer. Both produce great bass but the MA2ooM goes a bit deeper.

Digitally Engineered Composite Components

Every Hiro includes precision 3D-printed polymer components — mounts, cradles, and structural inserts — all modeled in CAD and printed to exact tolerances.

These parts eliminate vibration, prevent hardware fatigue, and maintain perfect alignment between horn and cabinet. This mirrors the modern composite methods used by premium manufacturers such as KEF and Wilson Benesch.

Cabinet Construction & Joinery

Hiro cabinets are built exclusively from ¾″ Baltic Birch plywood — never MDF — chosen for its stiffness, resonance control, and long-term stability.

Front Baffle

The front face is ¼″ solid exotic hardwood (inquire as to seasonal woods available), sliced from a real slab and hand-sanded. Available species include walnut, padauk, oak, wenge, black limba, and more depending on seasonal availability.

Rabbet Joint Strength

  • Increased glue surface for superior bonding
  • Mechanical interlock keeps panels rigid and square
  • Self-aligning for tight, repeatable joints
  • Used in fine cabinetry for maximum durability

End grain is visible by design — an honest expression of real joinery.
