Shinjitsu Classic SA12 — CP755ND (First-Run)
We’ve seen renewed demand for a classic loudspeaker—large-format woofer and true horn - voiced warm, punchy, and at life-like scale. Working with industry pros, long-time clients, and trusted reviewers, we built the SA12 to deliver room-filling music with easy dynamics and low fatigue.
The foundation is Beyma’s high-sensitivity 12BR70 treated-paper woofer: robust bass with a smooth, well-behaved roll-off right where a great horn wants to take over. For the top, we pair the renowned CP755ND compression driver with Beyma’s large-format TD460N constant-directivity horn, coupled through a precision-matched throat interface that maintains a flush, low-turbulence transition.
Why this combo? The CP755ND’s titanium diaphragm is bonded to a polymer surround, damping high-frequency breakup for detail without glare. The TD460N’s carefully shaped entry (the well-known “duck-bill” vane) preserves extension and even coverage to the top octave. Together, the pro-grade 12″ plus extended-range large horn deliver scale and immediacy few speakers match at this price.
How it sounds
- Room-filling scale — life-size images and effortless swing at sane watts.
- Warm, punchy bass — 12BR70 loads the room without bloat; tight start/stop.
- Coherent mids — low, steep crossover keeps voices in one “driver’s voice.”
- Smooth top end — polymer-surround CP755ND gives sparkle without splash.

Tech note — 1.4″ driver on a 2″ horn?
The SA12 uses Beyma’s CP755ND (a 1.4″ exit driver) coupled to Beyma’s TD460N (a 2″ throat). The TD460N employs a shaped entry (“duck-bill” vane) that forms a short diffraction slot right inside the horn. That slot—not the outer 2″ flange—sets the HF loading and wavefront. With a flush, concentric joint the result is smooth, extended response to 20 kHz.
- Clean interface: thin gaskets and precise centering keep the transition flush and low-turbulence.
- Measured proof: our on-axis and 15° off-axis sweeps are smooth through the 10–16 kHz region—the usual “air” trouble spot in poor transitions.
- Lower crossover with control: the combo reaches ~800–900 Hz comfortably while maintaining constant-directivity behavior.
Bottom line: you get big-horn dynamics and top-octave finesse. No “lost air”—just proper engineering and verification.
