Zobel Impedance Equalization Network – Internal Installation
The Zobel Network is the finishing touch that lets your crossover perform exactly as intended. It flattens the woofer’s rising impedance, allowing the Baffle Step Compensation (BSC) and Horn X2 PRO crossover to lock into their proper points. The result is smoother bass, a cleaner midrange, and a perfectly stable load for your amplifier.
- Flattens the woofer’s natural impedance rise at higher frequencies
- Ensures the crossover point remains accurate and predictable
- Improves bass balance and prevents upper-bass “shout”
- Allows BSC and Horn X2 PRO circuits to work in perfect harmony
- Built with premium film capacitor and precision resistor
- Encased in clear “crystal” protective housing for easy internal mounting
Why It’s Internal Only
A Zobel network must be placed directly across the woofer’s terminals (inside the cabinet). Any external wiring adds unwanted resistance and changes the circuit’s tuning. Internal mounting ensures the network performs precisely as designed.
How to Use
Connect the Zobel in parallel with the woofer — one lead to positive, one to negative. It can be mounted inside the cabinet using screws, adhesive pads, or hot glue. No external connections or soldering changes are needed.
Proper Tuning
For accurate performance, we tune each Zobel to your specific woofer. Please provide the make and model of your woofer when ordering. If that information isn’t available, we can closely approximate the tuning by measuring the woofer’s size and DC resistance.
Real-World Impact
Without a Zobel, the woofer’s impedance keeps rising as frequency increases — often reaching 20 Ω or more by a few kilohertz. The crossover then loses control, producing an uneven slope and a “shouty” or mid-forward character.
The Zobel flattens that rise, giving the crossover a steady 8 Ω load. The BSC and Horn X2 PRO now perform exactly as designed, delivering clean bass, smooth mids, and a precise hand-off above 2 kHz.

Digitally-Engineered Composite Components
Every Shinjitsu Audio product — including the Little Hiro — uses precision 3D-printed polymer composite parts. These materials aren’t chosen to cut costs; they’re chosen because they offer dimensional accuracy, integrated damping, and mechanical stability that wood or metal hardware cannot provide.
Each cradle and structural element is digitally modeled in CAD and printed to exact tolerances. This eliminates resonance, prevents hardware fatigue, and guarantees consistent performance from unit to unit. It’s the same modern engineering used by KEF, Wilson Benesch, and other top-tier loudspeaker manufacturers.
